Get to know FTP and its software


FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is one way to transfer files on the internet. In the hosting account, FTP can also be used as file manager / file management that can manage the transfer of files from our computer to our website or vice versa. FTP by default uses port 21 in operation, however this port can be changed if desired.
FTP basic way of working is to communicate FTP Client (our side) with FTP server (hosting usually). On the side we are usually given a username and password to access the FTP folder, except set anonymouse FTP from the server side.
Here are some free FTP applications that we can use.

1. Windows Default FTP.
By default on the Windows operating system already included applications for FTP. Even so because it is very simple this default application is rarely used, but still a good choice if you do not want to be bothered with the introduction of other FTP applications. How to access / create FTP folder is as follows:

  1.  Start -> My Network Places -> Add Network Place
  2. When the new Add Network Place window opens, click next, then wait a minute ...
  3. Then comes the field of internet netwrok address, fill in with our ftp address, eg: ftp://ftp.aden.web.id or can click "View some examples" for example writing, after filled click next ..
  4. Then the option will appear "Log on Anonymously" uncheck that option, then fill in our FTP username, to know username FTP can be seen in your cpanel.
  5. After that click next and name this FTP folder, click next then click Finish.

Then the folder has been created, to access it please click that folder then you will go into your hosting file manager.

2. FileZilla.
Is a free FTP Client application with complete features. FileZilla is developed by Typo AOE Media. The following are the features of FileZilla:

3. Classic FTP.
Free FTP Client which has the basic features of ftp client combined with latest features. Classic FTP currently supports 2 operating systems, namely Windows and MAC. Classic FTP developed by NCH Software. Here are the features of Classic FTP.
